Worldwide Leader in Specialized Genetic Testing

With the increasing requirement by FDA for drug metabolism studies, Ambry Genetics is well positioned to meet your needs. We offer a choice of drug metabolism studies that can be customized and performed under Research or GLP regulated depending on your specific project requirements. Our team is here to help you reach your project goals.

Drug Metabolism Panels

Drug Metabolism Studies Available

Genetic variations can affect the metabolism and pharmacological activity of drugs. Depending on the mutations, drug toxicities and response can be significantly modified. Through drug metabolism studies, one can personalize medicine by matching specific drug dosing, safety and efficacy to specific patients.

  • CYP2D6 mutations can affect metabolism of drugs including but not limited to tricyclic antidepressants, SSRIs, antipsychotics, antiarrythmics, beta-blockers, opioid analgesics, antiemetics, and antihistamines.
  • CYP2C9 mutations can affect metabolism of drugs including but not limited to coumarin, anticoagulants, sulfonylureas, angiotensin II receptor blockers, NSAIDs, and phenytoin.
  • CYP2C19 mutations can affect metabolism of drugs including but not limited to antifungals, proton pump inhibitors, benzodiazepines and antivirals.
  • CYP3A5 mutations can affect metabolism of drugs including but not limited to macrolide antibiotics, benzodiazepines, antivirals, antihistamines and calcium channel blockers.
  • VK0RC1 mutations reduce the amount of VK0RC1 protein produced, affecting the dosing amount of the anti-coagulant drug Warfarin.
  • DMET™ (Drug-Metabolizing Enzymes and Transporters) panel consists of 1,936 markers in all FDA-validated genes and covers more than 90 percent of the current ADME Core markers as defined by the Pharma ADME group.

Our drug metabolism studies can be performed as a panel or as individual SNP alleles.  Additionally, we can assist with the design of custom metabolism panels around your particular compound, identifying multiple classes of genes which may influence drug solubility, interaction, toxicity, and effect.
